Travian is an online multiplayer browser-based game developed by Travian Games GmbH in Germany.For the international market the game is published by Gameforge AG.

Travian cheat codes are not readily available as the game is reasonably new. In Travian, players interact simultaneously and compete with thousands of others in a virtual world set roughly in Classical antiquity, at the time of the Roman Empire.

While Travian is a strategy game, with events occurring and resources accumulated in real time, it should not be confused with other types of real time strategy games where actions occur in a highly interactive and fast paced environment.

Each field produces at a constant rate and all the fields of one resource added together make up the net rate of production (example: four woodcutting fields that produce 3 per hour would add up to 12 per hour).

For example, the aforementioned rate of 12 wood units per hour would not produce 12 wood every hour on the hour, but 1 wood unit every 5 minutes. Within the capital village, the fields can, theoretically, be expanded infinitely.

Although wood, clay, and iron can be used fresh out of the fields, the resource crop is not only used to build, but also to feed the village's population and the military.

Their troops have the greatest balance between offence, defense and speed but they are also the most expensive, and take longest to produce compared to other tribes.

The Gauls are best suited to a defensive strategy but their high speed means that they are able to attack swiftly.

They have the ability to steal a third of the resources hidden in a village (on top of any non-hidden resources, which are accessible to raiders of any tribe).

They have many advantages, such as the ability to store much more resources than other tribes, the use of war elephants in place of horses for cavalry (making them very powerful), the use of flying scouts, and the ability to create Wonders of the World.

They only appear towards the end of a game (after about 9-10 months on a normal server or about 4 on a 3x speed server), although on the first international server the administrators' alliance was called 'The Natars' and the administrators themselves were referred to as the 'Natars' even before the artifacts were released.
